In a rare display of synergy between the video game and TV industries (outside of boring licensing deals that is), Polyphony Digital — makers of the Gran Turismo series of Playstation racing games — have teamed with the BBC’s Top Gear motoring show.

The deal sees the inclusion of the infamous Top Gear test track in the game so racers can see just how well they compare to the various ”stars in a reasonably priced car". There’s no mention of whether a Chevrolet Lacetti (also known as a Daewoo Lacetti or a Holden Viva depending on which market you live in) is included in the car list for GT5 yet, but even if it’s not, being able to rip around the Top Gear track should offer up a ton of fun.

And, even better, GT5 will allow gamers to download and watch entire Top Gear episodes over the Playstation Network. We like this. We like it a lot.
