It's a Windows world out there
Linux and Mac users are the most vocal, but which OS is the biggest by them all?

It is Windows XP, which has increased its market share steadily over the past year. Apple's Mac OS X on the other hand has declined, but the "Other" category is up by a goodly amount.
Take all the Windows versions, and Microsoft has 94.22 per cent of the market. This despite lots of negative press for Windows, but praise heaped on Mac OS X by the media.
Could it be that users know something us journalists don't?

Michael: Vista hasn't been released yet. Linux distributions and *BSD I guess are in the "Other" category.

Im suprise windows ME is still being used. That was the worst OS I've ever seen, so much that microsoft shoulda given them a free copy of Win2K, but thats not the Money hungry Microsoft we all know and love. :)

I thought Win2K would have a bigger market share even in 2006 - that MacOS X hasn't continued to increase its share is also interesting.

I bet that the users that stop using Windows ME contribute to XP's growing market share ;)
